Main Function and Works

The Ministry of Government Legislation is supporting the foreign eco- nomic activities of the Korean citizens and enterprises by collecting and providing legislative information of 83 countries around the world through the operation of the World Law Information Center. In addition, the Ministry of Government Legislation is pursuing exchange and collabora- tion business for legislative systems via various routes, while sharing its advanced legislative information service with the countries in Asia.

World Laws Information Service

The Ministry of Government Legislation systematizes legislative information by country and by field and provides our people and enterprises with it promptly in order to actively support overseas expansion of them.

Main Service

  • Providing the newest legislative informationfrom the target countries and regions of priority control

    Selecting and providing more than 800 items of legislative information from about 54 countries and regions such as English, Arabic, Spanish-speaking nations where our people and enterprises are doing their businesses actively.

  • Providing personalized legislative information

    Required legislative information(Original or summary of legislation, etc) is available, upon request.

  • Drawing up and providing research report

    Providing legislative information on trade, foreign investment, recent legislative issues, etc, from the target countries and regions of priority control.

  • Providing the legislative system chart by country and region

    Providing current legislative information correctly by providing links to legislative information by country and region.

  • Publishing News Letter

    Providing recent information on establishment and amendment of overseas legislations, legislative issues, etc every month.

Legislative Exchange and Collaboration


The Ministry of Government Legislation has hosted the “Asian Legislative Experts Symposium (ALES)” every year since 2013, under the slogan “Asia shares legislative experience,” to discuss modification strategies for development of laws and systems.

We have held ALES six times from 2013 to 2018. Thanks to the interest and participation of other Asian countries, ALES has served as a discussion venue to develop strategies for social and economic development of every Asian country.

In addition, we are providing the latest legal information by signing memoranda of under- standing with other Asian countries and sharing Korean legislative experiences.

Results: Implementing Korean Legislative Information System

The Ministry of Government Legislation provides Korean legislative information system such as the National statutory information Center by offering advanced legislative IT infrastructure and legislative improvement know-how, etc.
In particular, feasibility study for the project of establishing a legal information system in Myanmar was conducted in 2013. And the project began to be carried out in 2016 and was completed in 2018. The legal information system is now successfully used in Myanmar and this project became the foundation for legislative exchange and cooperation with other Asian countries.

Myanmarese Statutory Information System Implementation Project was chosen as an excellent case of the administrative Korean Wave in 2016. As of 2019, we have signed 27 memoranda of understanding for cooperation with 16 countries, including Indonesia, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan.
